 At 16 years old, Valérie Schlumberger discovered Senegal. She settled fastly to Gorée and worked in Dakar where she opened a making and dyeing workshop. During this period, she met numerous craftsmen, painters and sculptors. After several years in Africa, she returned to Paris. In 1995, she created the CSAO (Company of Senegal and western Africa) and opened her first shop. Her idea : spread the work of craftsmen of western Africa and make known artists, while building sustainable and fair links with each of them.
