Royal Copenhagen represents 240 years of design, craftsmanship and tradition. Founded in 1775 by Queen Juliane Marie as the Royal Danish Porcelain Factory, it has since then been a reference in porcelain manufacturing in Europe and a part of the danish cultural heritage, associated with the royal family.

Juliane Marie was known as a modern queen and a strong supporter of the country. She was also a strong woman with a good grasp of the needs of the time. It was the task of the reigning monarch to safeguard the country’s economic health with the development of domestic products and services.
