The shirasagi or white heron, originally from Ema's childhood region in Japan, has been inspiring her to create these vases. These unique pieces by Ema Girardot are one of the most original and delicate work I’ve ever seen. The pieces built using the clay coil technique are so delicate they seem to be made of textile or fiber, the engraved ones are glazed with the most exquisite colors. The work of the ceramicist is of all nagori, a japanese concept describing « what is left of what just left ».
